Who are we?

With innovative concert formats, we strip contemporary music of its conventions and break down the barrier between stage and audience. We believe in exciting programs that continually engage audiences.

The DoelenEnsemble (DE) was founded in 1990 as the resident ensemble of De Doelen, by former Doelen director Huub van Dael and composer Peter-Jan Wagemans. Its goal: to increase attention to twentieth-century repertoire and create a broader audience for modern composed music
